Lionel Messi is set to break Pele's record. This year 2012, he has netted 73 goals and Barcelona has eight (8) more games in the league, 3 games in the champions league, 2 games in the cup and 0 games for argentina this year. The next game we got is in march 2013.
But, Barça wins Alaves in December then certainly Barcelona will have 15 more matches to play. He could score 13 more goals added to 73 goals he already has making it 86 goal. Then, he would break the record of Gerd Muller who scored 85 goals in 1972 and he will set a new record.

Messi has now found the net 73 times in 2012, placing him third behind Pele, who scored 75 goals in 1959, and Gerd Muller who scored 85 times in 1972.

Three Highest Goal Scorers in a Year

1. Gerd Muller ------ 85 goals in 1972

2. Pele --------------- 75 goals in 1959

3. Lionel Messi ----- 73 goals now in 2012
(More goals is going to come from Messi)

Hopefuly he will make it. if anyone can do it then it's him.

I still don't understand why many see Messi as one of no best. He is a scoring machine.

Messi will make it on breaking pele's record but for Mueller he needs more courage and goals.

breaking Pele and Muller's record is simple to do if Messi can only focus. The only person who will do that is Messi alone. If he doesn't, then it will take more years for that record to be broken. smile

Muller's, I see it as a bit hard for him. But I still hope and I remain very positive.

Messi is really the king. But why is he always compared with CR7? HE should be compared with Pele. CR7 is not his level.
