Acute bronchitis
This is usually a secondary bacterial infection of the bronch, it is usually preceeded by a common cold or influenza and may also complicate measles and whooping cough in children. The viruses depress normal defense mechanisms, allowing pathogenic bacterial already present in the despiratory fact to multiply. Down spread of infection may lead to bronchiotis. Broncho pneumonia may develop especially in children and in debilitated or elderly adults.
